Bass Guitar Lingo

There is a guitar pickup that is comparable to a pickup bass?

You know, since mid and low tones to be (I do not understand language tone, sorry) really muscular and expanding (get it?). Bearing in mind that I leave my guitar in B, I'm trying to replace the pickup with something that will give me as a low tone, as my band has no bassist. I will be running this pickup a separate output of the bridge pickup with its own tone and vol. controls. The truck will most likely be executed for a bass amp, as I have only one guitar amp. If someone has a suggestion on a pickup bass RAIL, I think it probably would work, too. All non-retarded answeres are appreciated. Unless of course you are legally retarded, in which case, we're cool.

It is difficult to make a call like this – here's the deal. You do not want a pickup with a lot of mids, I think, because it would aggravate the boominess, and it does not necessarily a desirable quality in a drop tuning – I would think you would like to articulation and clarity and a solid low end. Hmmm. I spent some time in the forums Seymour Duncan, and the recommendations generally revolve around the Seymour Duncan Full Shred, Custom Duncan, JB, and Alternative 8. Everyone seems do very well in terms of drop tunings, according to what members have said. I used JB Alternative and 8, and I play in Drop C # (ie, Drop D down 1 / 2 step). For me, while the JB is a good sound, versatile collection, the bottom end is very lax, and not ideal for power chording / rhythm. Alt 8 is my Favorite pickup now, especially when combined with a pot 1 Mohm. It has a sound similar to the JB – lots of heat, picking dynamics, the clarity with high gain, but has a final tight lower and is actually even greater output. When compared side by side is completely owner of JB – I was shocked, I always felt the JB pickup was a very hot now! Okay …. but these are * only * for the bridge pickup, sorry, I was not paying attention to your question. Hmm a nice fat warm sound, trying to achieve a low-like tone …. My first inclination is to direct you to the Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro, but I'm not sure if it is the best choice for you. A very "classic / sound" vintage, pairs well with the JB and Alt 8. Think Slash. Not specialize in these chuggy low sounds, resounds louder than the Alt 8, etc. does. DiMarzio D-Activator neck … Sonic D and D Activator pickups are built specifically for the great clarity with drop tuning – so that is a sense that I probably look. Get the model of the neck, however, Whatever you do – have a lower output, which means less magnet pull the strings. This is important for a pickup, as less magnet pull string = great support! Do not worry about the volume of transfers, neck position are higher than normal bridge pickup (which is a physical thing), so having a weak magnet is not a problem as far as balancing volume. I listed one of the websites I go to for pickups, etc. Prices are good and decent equipment – much of it along with the name brands, too. The second link is a site that I have not heard of, but had decent reviews. Lots of different bass pickups, too, so there's a bit of variety for you to look. Third link is a good place to find reviews on pickups. Honestly, if it were me, I would probably put an active single-coil from the first site in this way, its a nice strong signal … then run it in an octave pedal before going into a bass amp of any kind. This way, you will have some low-end presence. All that said, the right may actually accentuate its lower end, without having to go to the separate pickup / steering bass amp … If you can get your hands on a cabin with an extension Speaker 15 "(made for the guitar, though … unless you can slave a bass amp amplifier guitar …..), hmmm? should add a lot low end of your guitar. Now that I think about it, the ability of a slave amplifier for your bass guitar amp would be freaking awesome … alternatively dividing the signal of the guitar, and performing at least some EQ then to the bass amp … again, I like the idea octave pedal, although it could be better in the loop fx bass amp …. since, with a speaker 15, and you should have all the pieces of low end you've always wanted! …. I do not know … I know my Mesa Boogie Tremoverb put out all kinds of low, hook a 15 "cab that I have worked as well …. … The last three links show some speakers that I would consider. I even saw one reviewer who said explicitly that he used the Peavey 15 "in an open-cab back to your guitar rig. The last link is a discussion on the use of 15 "speakers. hell, I'm starting to think about it …. Good luck! Saul
