what brands of electric bass guitar are good for messing with strange tunings?
I am trying to lean bass, for which i need a bass.
I have a pretty short attention span and i think i would want to play with ot as much as play it. Stringing and tuning it oddly. Which brands and models tollerate non-standard tuning well. Without breaking the bank.
The brand of bass really isn't a factor.
all basses come off the shelf "set up"(or intonated) for standard tuning (E A D G). The physics involved in this are too complicated to explain here...but I will say that the shorter the string the better it is going to deal with these changes. So the shorter the "scale" is of the bass, the better it will handle alternate tunings.
