Some of this dude’s advice is good…some of it it not so good…Any top notch guitarist will tell you that when it comes to picking, ALL MOTION should come from the wrist…NOT the elbow…learning to pick the right way from the get-go will make your life easier in the long run.
I find it very hard to do the strumming up, I keep skipping strings.

i know right a have a opening in my fingers i have to wait for them to puff out lol
i try not to press the chords to hard but if i dont good sound dosent come out and my fingers hurt
how do you catch the upstrokes. I can’t do it, it sounds awful, lol.
