How do I know what I sing on key?
I am a very experienced musician. I've been playing guitar and bass for about 10 years now, and I understand the theory, but trying to find my best key is very difficult to use my guitar because I'm going to play chord progressions in each key and see what feels the most natural, but I notice that not sing, of course, when I'm thinking this. I know it is a Windows software out there where you sing into the microphone and it helps you find your best part, I use a Mac and unfourtionately can not find any Apple software. any help? thanks
I am a professional vocal director, and has a master's in theory. There is no one right answer here – because every song is different. You may find that the key of G suits you when you sing Amazing Grace, and that the key of C suits by Danny Boy – because every song has a different tessitura (range). I have the keyboard skills that allow me to implement the most songs immediately to the piano, as a singer needs them. Pros will tell me what they need key (should bring music in the right key!), But amateurs often need more support. I can hear if they are in need of a gentle suggestion to move to another key – and I can do this without getting their knickers in a knot. Then, as you build your repertoire, you may want to note what each key you sing sing! For example, I play in a lot of holiday parties and do not need to bring music to all things Christmas (although nuts have some strange things on the bridge in a few buttons!). But I take a list with the great with me – have figured out in advance what will fit most drunk – Sorry, most customers who employ me. You do not need any software – Trust me, myself tons with step-by-MIDI conversion, etc. It's all about your EAR. Maybe you can sing, and someone else can find it key – write it down for each song — and then hand it back to you. It is not easy to do both at the same time!
