Although it may not have as much weight (figuratively speaking) as the iconic Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG is still a remarkable piece of rock and roll history, as Angus Young can attest.

Everyone from Eric Clapton with Tony Iommi Gibson SG adopted for its piercing sound. Since not everyone can afford the price of street $ 1200 Gibson, however, its sister company is an Epiphone SG model available, the G-400.

Since the Epiphone G-400 is clearly cheaper, we find how well it "stands out" to his older brother, the Gibson SG.

We have zero niggles with regard to the cherry finish, which is simply beautiful and looks fantastic on the mahogany body instrument. Fashion SG itself is perfect. If it was not the name on the headstock, the instrument would be a dead ringer for a Gibson SG.

The mother of pearl inlays are beautifully done, although not find some small traces of residue glue around the edges. Just way, we found some traces of glue holding the neck in the common place, but these fights aside, we determine the quality of construction to be really made.

Intonation of the instrument was easy to set and was very good, but we want the bridge saddles were not as cutting as they are. The instrument was its tuning very well, even after quite radical flexion.

The instrument plays well, suitable for almost any style of music. We note aa couple of buzzes and rattles here and there, but we set the action fairly low, and did not observe any of these sounds through an amplifier.

I am of the opinion that a good guitar has superb sound disconnected, and G-400 leaves in this area either. It's vibrant, resonant, and offers substantial support, as impressive is the bass weight.

The acoustic guitar tones were, pardon the pun, "enhanced" when connected our amplifier test, a Dr. Z MAZ-18 NR. The receivers of the G-400 offers very balanced tone, useful for many different styles.

We heard collectors in all three configurations of alternating tones and found useful in all settings using both clean and distorted amp / pedal sounds. When we actually went to the sound of metal (using a Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde pedal), we find that the instrument was somewhat muddy sound, but really is not a criticism, considering toppingly hot as this guitar is global.

So, if you want to play this instrument in a tribute band to Judas Priest, you'll probably want to put some hotter pickups with a little bite more acute.

Not much more to say. The Epiphone G-400 is an excellent guitar at a great price. If you want a cheap instrument that can cover a lot of sonic ground, you can not go wrong with the G-400.
