BEAD fit for a low?
So, I own a 4-string Squier jazz, and most of the songs I want to learn about it are written for a 5-string with the low B. Due to financial constraints, I will not be getting a 5-string soon, so I tried BEAD tuning. The only problem is that when I had the rope tuned, I had to greatly enhance the action, who played the mode setting out of whack, so I had to keep repeating the process. Eventually I just got bored with it and went back to EADG. There is an easier way to get BEAD tuning, or is it just a trial and error? Thanks in advance! ~ Tiger
Not sure if it would work, but try putting the bottom four strings of a string of five that there. The fatter strings have more tension. Problem is, the nut will be very small. The grooves in it, anyway. This is something that you can get the music store guy to look fairly cheap, however.
