electric guitar hammer on
Acoustic vs Electric Guitar speed building...?

I am new to guitar, I play acoustic. I want to move on to electric soon. Right now I can play a few songs, mainly beginner/intermediate level songs like Wonderwall by Oasis and Pork and Beans by Weezer (I can play many more).

One thing I noticed is that I cant play solos well and I am not fast at single notes. I sound pretty good when I am playing songs with many chords in it. My friend told me it is hard to switch notes on acoustic and play fast solos because the strings are hard to press down (and most of the songs I play were meant to be played on electric).

---If I go to electric guitar, will I be a lot faster at fast riffs instantly because of the lack of heavy+tight strings?

---I am finding hammer ons/pull offs extremely difficult, I can perform them but I can barely hear the note I hammer on to, (or pull off on to). Is this normal for acoustic guitar and if I get and electric will it be easier?

That is normal for passages to be harder on any acoustics. many guitarist , now set up their acoustics like their electric guitar. If they olay on extra light gauge .09 or whatever, they set their acoustics the same way so that they keep with the same technique such as practicing pull-offs, hammer-ons, tapping etc...

You should set your guitar with .010 light gauge. That will ease the tension and give you a better action .You will feel the hammer-ons and pull-offs as well as the tapping. The response will be better for sure.

On an elecric guitar, you have the pickups and the sensitivty of the fingerboard which responses quicker than any acoustic. for sure, everything will be musch easier for you.
